Arni Aromaa

Industrial designer Arni Aromaa (b.1971) graduated in 1998 from the Department of Industrial and Strategic Design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki (now Aalto University School of Art and Design). In addition to an MA degree, Aromaa has completed the International Design Business Management (IDBM) programme and studied industrial design in Germany.

In 1996, Aromaa founded the industrial design consultancy Pentagon Design together with colleague Sauli Suomela. Aromaa is responsible of the creative lead and development of the offering of the company. In addition to Aromaa and Suomela, the company's team comprises of 15 skilled design strategy, product design, graphic design, and interior design experts.

Pentagon Design aims at designing inventive solutions to everyday needs, inspiring delight in consumers and generating concrete value for their clients. Pentagon Designs clientele consists of leading-edge companies that recognize the significance of design. The clients include companies such as Arabia, Cembrit, Fiskars, Hackman, IDO Bathroom, Iittala, Kone, Koleksiyon, Orthex, Stockmann, and Tikkurila. In addition to client assignments the company develops self-driven product concepts, which serve as a platform in exploring future prospects and trends.

Pentagon Design actively participates in various roles to design shows and exhibitions both in Finland and abroad. The agency has received numerous prizes, including the prestigious iF Product Design, red dot and Design Plus awards. The Finnish Association of Designers, Ornamo, also granted the Industrial Designer of the Year 2010 prize to Arni Aromaa and Sauli Suomela.

In addition to creative work, Aromaa lectures at design schools in Finland and abroad, participates in development projects in the field as an expert and holds many positions of trust.
